About Us

Mitzvah Day is a Jewish led day of social action.  On Mitzvah Day, around the world, thousands of people take part in hands on projects, without fundraising, to support charities and to build stronger communities.

Our mission is to reduce hardship and poverty, to help our environment and to bring a little joy - hands on – no fundraising. It is a way for all of us to make our mark regardless of our affiliation, wealth, age, gender or nationality.

Mitzvah Day is based on the Jewish values of tikkun olam (repairing the world), tzedek (righteousness) and gemilut chassadim (acts of lovingkindness).

Mitzvah Day is proud to work with and launch Inter Faith Week, and we encourage all of our communities to join up with a Partner of another faith to run projects together on Mitzvah Day.  We hope that through our ongoing inter faith work, the links made on Mitzvah Day will continue to flourish afterwards into long-term relationships.

Mitzvah Day is a resident organisation of JHub. JHub inspires and supports positive social change in the British Jewish Community and beyond.

Mitzvah Day UK became a registered charity in 2008 having launched in the UK with Founding Partner the JCC for London and based on the concept of Mitzvah Day at Temple Israel of Hollywood.
