AJEX Annual Remembrance Ceremony

Even in the face of Covid 19, we are committed as ever to remember the sacrifice and dedication of our ex Servicemen and Women. Sadly, the Covid Pandemic does mean that the AJEX Annual Parade and Ceremony at The Cenotaph cannot not go ahead this November in the usual way.

AJEX will be holding the Remembrance Ceremony as a virtual event online at 2.30pm on the 15th November.

We have not taken this decision lightly. We are going ahead with a virtual event given the increased lockdown and concerns about the safety of our members and the people who would be attending the parade. We are also mindful of the impact on emergency services and people travelling to get to The Cenotaph. This is of course immensely sad for everyone involved and we will be doing all we can in the coming weeks to ensure that we honour our veterans, albeit in an unusual format, despite the pandemic’s restrictions.

AJEX Shabbat

We are also marking the day in other ways and demonstrating our ongoing commitment to Jewish veterans, serving community members and to Remembrance. In particular, we are going to be publicising a special prayer for the AJEX Shabbat on 14th November. We are asking for synagogues, religious services and individuals across the UK to say this prayer on that Shabbat. The prayer will be available shortly.

Your Photos and Memorabilia

To help us at this time we would welcome any pictures of you or your family members with medals or at past parades or other memorabilia (with permission for us to use on our social media channels and possibly in the online event.)  Please be in touch with if you have anything you are happy to share.

Unbroken Tradition

Finally, we are incredibly proud that there has been an AJEX presence at The Cenotaph each year for the past 85 years other than during World War 2.  There will be no presence as we know it at The Cenotaph this year, however we have managed to get permission from the authorities for our National Chairman, Deputy National Chairman, our Padre and our 2 standard bearers to attend on Sunday 15th to pay their respects.  There will be no marchers or spectators nor fanfare but this will ensure that a year does not go by without AJEX honouring the British and Allied Servicemen and Women who have given their lives in many conflicts.
