Fareshare Project – drivers and doers, pickers and packers, chatters and champions
We are the UK’s largest charity fighting hunger and food waste. We believe that no good food should go to waste and we redistribute surplus food to charities that turn it into meals. We are doers. We are a community. We change lives.
Here’s how we do it.
- We redistribute surplus food… Fresh in date and good to eat surplus from the food industry, which would otherwise go to waste. Last year we managed 16,992 tonnes of food.
- Across the UK… We reach 1,500 towns and cities through our 21 Regional Centres, which can be found from Aberdeen to Brighton.
- To frontline charities and community groups… 9,653 of them including homeless hostels, children’s breakfast clubs, lunch clubs for older people, domestic violence refuges and community cafés.
- Which turn it into meals for vulnerable people. Last year we redistributed enough food for 36.7 million meals. But it’s about more than meals. The organisations we supply food to are places that provide life changing support, as well as lunch and dinner.
We’re on a mission to make sure good food doesn’t go to waste. By giving your time, you’ll help us get good food to good causes and help combat food poverty in the UK.
We need drivers and doers, pickers and packers, chatters and champions to help us bring people and food together. No matter where you’re from, how old you are or the skills you have, we need you!
You can find FareShare at work in 1,500 towns and cities across the UK. We fight hunger and food waste in two ways. Our Regional Centres redistribute surplus food to local charities in their 21 regions, from Grampian down to Sussex.
