Lord’s Taveners Sport Kit Recycling Project
Give disadvantaged and disabled young people a sporting chance by donating unwanted cricket, football and rugby equipment and general sports clothing.
The Lord’s Taverners is the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity dedicated to giving disadvantaged and disabled young people a sporting chance.
What is a sporting chance?
• It’s the chance to interact, play and train
• The chance to compete, win and lose
• The chance to learn, have fun and make friends
SPORTS KIT RECYCLING
We recycle sports kit to give young people at home and abroad a sporting chance. Our kit recycling programme equips UK clubs and developing nations with high-quality kit donated by manufacturers, clubs and members of the public. Recycling unwanted kit helps clubs increase participation among young people while reducing the build-up of kit in landfill sites. We send kit to where it is needed most in both the UK and developing nations. We work with partner charities in each country to make sure the kit reaches its final destination and is used to supplement an established coaching programme.
Latest kit deliveries:
So far this year we have donated recycled sports kit and equipment to the following countries:
Zimbabwe – Football Kit and Equipment
Kenya – Cricket Kit and Equipment
Uganda – Football Kit and Equipment
Mali – Cricket Kit and Equipment
Kenya – Football and Rugby Kit and Equipment
Moldova – Cricket Kit and Equipment
Lebanon – Cricket Kit and Equipment
France- Cricket Kit and Equipment
We urgently require all sorts of junior and youth sports kit and equipment because since lockdown restrictions have eased, we have seen a huge increase in demand from community groups to encourage and support young people participating in sport.
We collect unwanted cricket, football and rugby equipment and general sports clothing between the ages of 8-25. We are especially interested in junior cricket clothing (shirts & trousers) cricket kit of all types, shoes (size 3-8), protective gear as well as coaching equipment, such as cones, bibs, whistles and tennis balls. For Football and Rugby, we need full team kits, training clothes, pads, boots and balls. All items must be clean and washed.
What we don’t collect
Other sports equipment like hockey sticks, badminton racquets etc
Clothing & bags that are ripped/torn
No rust or blooded items
We have collection points located throughout the UK. To find your nearest collection centre please visit our website www.lordstaverners.org/sportskitrecycling
