How little hands can help others

Calling all kids! PJ Library needs your help this Mitzvah Day. The Jewish children’s book charity is sending out thousands of PJ Mitzvah Packs to families across the UK this November.  If you don’t receive PJ Library books and gifts though, you can still get busy putting their Mitzvah Day ideas into practice this year. There are dozens of mitzvah-themed stories and accompanying tried-and-tested activities for children to do at home or as part of a community-wide event. A small selection are listed below but families can find more on the PJ Library website. If you are an organisation that is getting families together for an event, contact Sara who can help you get started, supplying books, resources and ideas. We can also provide a personalised poster to be included on your community’s social media pages to help with promotion. Let us know what you would like your mitzvah pack to include! We can supply resources to support:
  • Taking food to a local food bank
  • Making ‘show you care kits’ for the homeless
  • Creating cards for patients in a hospice
  • Writing a thank-you note to care staff
  • Making friendship bracelets and learning about ways to be king
  • Baking challah for someone
  • Making a Chanukah card for a care home resident
  • Donating toys you no longer use
  • Planting a tree and caring for it
  • Making a bird feeder with seeds and honey
  • Organising a litter pick
